DOG-ASSISTED INTERVENTION

Dog-Assisted Intervention is based on carrying out different activities with educative and therapeutic aims, using the animal as a tool for union and motivation.  The realisation of an assisted intervention program involves the realisation of initial assessment of the users, the proposal of concrete objectives, the realisation of a work methodology adapted to each case, assessment of each of the sessions and final assessments of the users.

The dog-assisted intervention programs can be carried out in a variety of different environments, either in a group or individually, and they are open to people of all ages. The programs can be carried out both in the participants’ environment (centre, school, home etc...) as well as in different spaces in our organisation.

All of the dog-assisted intervention programs will be supervised by the special education teacher in the association, alongside the psychologist and professionals at the centre.

The dog-assisted intervention sessions are carried out with therapy technicians with dogs and their therapy dog. This team has been evaluated previously by those responsible for the organisation, who certify that they are valid to carry out the sessions.

Given that the profession of therapy with dogs is not currently recognised as such, the AAS DISCAN will carry out a prior test in order to assess the aptitudes both of the technician and of the dog.

Furthermore, all of the technicians have a quarterly veterinary certificate which corroborates the vaccinations, analytics and de-worming carried out for the dog, as well as third party insurance.
